A fact of life: we will all pass through seasons of decrease.
Something disappoints us. Something drains us. Something we hoped would grow suddenly shrinks. And when that happens, our first instinct often tells us to fix everything immediately.
We spend more energy trying to regulate the disappointment than we lost in the first place.
We overthink. We push. We explain. We replay the moment. Then anger rises, frustration thickens, and the ego starts acting like it got elected mayor of the whole nervous system.
But the I Ching offers a quieter path.
It teaches that times of decrease can still serve us when we meet them with sincerity, humility, and restraint. Instead of trying to force the world back into shape, we can quiet the urge to control, soften the voice of ego, and sincerely ask the Divine Creator for aid, clarity, strength, and right conduct.
Decrease does not always mean defeat.
Sometimes decrease removes what we cannot carry anymore. Sometimes disappointment exposes where we have been leaking energy. Sometimes the season that feels like loss teaches us how to become stronger, healthier, and wiser.
So when life decreases you, pause before you panic.
Breathe.
Ask what the moment wants to teach.
Then move forward with sincerity, not force.
