Do not smuggle politics into the work merely to prove your position. Do not turn creativity into a decorated argument. Do not use beauty as a costume for a message that has not yet earned its place.
Let the message grow from the truth of the scene, the honesty of the voice, the pressure of the experience, and the discipline of the craft.
When art carries a message organically, people feel invited into witness.
When art only pushes an agenda, people feel managed.
The artist’s task does not require silence about the world. It requires honesty deep enough that the world reveals itself.
As a creative intellectual, I use creativity and disciplined thought to bring order to lived experience. That means I do not need to force meaning into the work. I need to listen deeply enough for the meaning already moving through the work.
Make the art honest.
Let the message breathe.
